Kroger In-Store Deals (Houston)

I found a few good deals at Kroger (Grant/Louetta) so be on the lookout in your store. These were all around the refrigerated section on top of the display cooler 'island'.

Kroger Milk/Cereal Deal *FREE MILK*

I went to Kroger this afternoon to check out the Buy 4 General Mills cereals, Get 2 Gallons of Milk FREE deal and here's what I ended up with:
3 boxes Cinnamon Toast Crunch $2.79 ea
1 box Cinnamon Chex $2.79
2 gallons Springdale milk $3.48 ea
- $1/2 GM cereal 7/10 SS
- $1/2 GM cereal 7/10 SS
- $3.48 FREE milk
- $3.48 FREE milk
= $9.16 for 4 boxes of cereal and 2 gallons of milk

I would have paid $3.48 for each gallon of milk anyway, so I figure I got the 4 boxes of cereal for $2.20 which works out to $0.55 per box!
It's been a good cereal day!

*If you are not interested in buying the cereal, there is also another great deal on Smart Balance milk 1/2 gallons. They are on sale for $2.50 and there is a coupon in the 7/10 SS for $1.50/1 making them only $1.00 each! I snagged a few of these since I like to drink them, they have a very long expiration period, and they have Omega-3s and also a lactose free version if you're in need of that.

Tuesday Topic - Kroger to End Double/Triple Coupons

(whew! just made it)

This may be news to some of you, and to others not. Kroger has announced that they are putting an end to doubling and tripling coupons effective April 13, 2011. For me, this was pretty devastating news. I spent the better part of Saturday grieving... first in shock, then sad, then mad. How can they do this?!?! One of the main reasons I shop Kroger is because they had this perk. One of the main reasons I started this site was to share how much you could save shopping with coupons, and how you can save even more at Kroger because of their awesome coupon policy!  What on earth am I going to do now?!?! How am I going to show people how to save when the savings aren't as amazing anymore?

Well, here's where I am now. Still wondering. Still hoping they'll change their minds. Still hoping I am not forced to change grocery stores. Hoping I can figure everything out quickly so I can continue to help you save.

I know we'll be okay in the end. We'll just have to help each other out... finding deals and maybe new stores.

Kroger March to Savings Instant Win Game

Kroger Deals 3/9-3/15

When shopping Kroger, there are many options for you to save money:
1. Sign-up for a Kroger Plus card - This is Kroger's in-store shopper loyalty card. Sale prices will apply automatically when you swipe this card at checkout. If you do not have one, you may apply for one at the store customer service counter. You will not need to register it prior to first use, so make sure you grab one before you check out!
2. Manufacturer's coupons triple up to and including $.39 and double starting at and including $.40 to $.50 - this means that if you have a $.35 coupon it is worth $1.05 and a $.50 is actually worth $1.00. You may use up to three like coupons for double/triple, but the fourth will deduct at face-value.
3. Register your Kroger card on the following websites for electronic coupons you can load to your Kroger Plus card:  Kroger, Cellfire, Shortcuts  These coupons will automatically deduct from your purchase price when you purchase the specified items and swipe your Kroger card at checkout.
4. Kroger is currently running a Cart Buster promotion. Each day at the time listed on the website (has been 3 PM EST/2 PM CST) there is a free product e-coupon offered to the first 1,000 customers to load the coupon to their Kroger card. These are going VERY FAST, but it is possible to get one. I did! If you want to try your hand at getting one of these, go here. Make sure you are logged in and ready to go prior to start time. You also must have your Kroger card registered on the Kroger website in order to load the e-coupon. This promotion ends March 12th.
